Sven Grell

Licensed Real Estate Salesperson

Born and raised in Germany, Sven began his career at Commerzbank, one of Germany’s leading financial institutions. He initially applied his strong organizational and management skills to the various aspects of running and, after the reunification of Eastern and Western Germany, expanding the bank’s domestic branch network. Always looking for new challenges, Sven eagerly accepted the opportunity to participate in an international training program, with the goal of working in one of the bank’s foreign locations. In 1995, as part of this program, Sven fell in love with New York, and accepted an offer to relocate here permanently. Over the course of his career with Commerzbank, Sven held a variety of management positions, from implementing and managing a project and process management program for the New York branch to establishing uniform policies for all of the international locations of Commerzbank in Asia, Europe, and North America. Ultimately, he decided to leave finance behind in order to pursue his life-long passion for architecture, design, and real estate.

Throughout his life, Sven has purchased, renovated, furnished, leased, and sold properties in both Germany and the United States. He has continually furthered his real estate knowledge by attending various building and property management workshops, and earned his Certificate in Interior Design at Parsons in 2011. For more than ten years, Sven served as Board President for a co-op in Brooklyn Heights, and currently, he owns a condo in Park Slope. These experiences have given Sven a wealth of insight into the benefits and challenges of renting, acquiring, owning, and selling property in New York City, which he brings to his career as a real estate agent with Cooper & Cooper.

In his spare time, Sven enjoys yoga, cooking, and baking, as well as participating in a local community garden. Just prior to joining Cooper & Cooper, he attended and graduated from the Professional Pastry Arts program at the International Culinary Center. His friends, colleagues and clients are the grateful beneficiaries of his extensive culinary skills.
